In the world of Chronos, time is more than just a measure of existence—it is the lifeblood that fuels every action, every transaction, and every war. Time is harvested from the living and traded in vast, glittering markets where seconds, minutes, and hours are more valuable than gold. Some barter in mere moments, others in years, while the richest of all command decades at their disposal. The currency of time determines one’s power, and to possess it is to hold control over the very fabric of reality.
Citizens wear intricate devices called Timebands—glistening metal cuffs that store, protect, and control their personal time. At birth, everyone is given a set amount of time to live, a predetermined expiration engraved into their Chrono-dossier, and it is up to them to protect or squander those years. The most skilled traders can buy or sell whole lifetimes, gambling with fate like a roll of dice, where the stakes are nothing less than life itself.
But time is also a weapon.
A dark underworld has emerged where rogue Timeblades—mercenaries skilled in the deadly art of manipulating time—can slice through seconds, stealing them from unsuspecting victims in moments of weakness. A strike from a Timeblade doesn’t just take years, it takes a piece of the future, unraveling destinies with a single slash. Cities are protected by elite Timeguardians, armed with Chrono-forges that can stop time altogether for brief moments, creating barriers to defend against Timeblades and their deadly thieves.
In Chronos, there are no good guys or bad guys, only the Timehunters and the Timeless, those who’ve learned to manipulate time beyond its constraints. The only rule: don’t run out of time.
For when the clock runs out, so do you.
